Build up an obvious resolution, subvert expectations. While it has a great cast, each character follows a sadly stereotypical role within it. Right from the beginning, something about it hasn't resonated with me, be it the characters or the drama. Even this new season didn't manage to change my initial impressions. You simply can't deny the show's exceptional production quality - it's top-tier. However, I often found myself feeling like the episodes were dragging, not keeping me as engaged as l'd hope. The drama can come across as too intense, with characters reacting strongly to minor events and major moments alike. It's possible that my initial disinterest has colored my perspective. And let's talk about that ending. It fit the show's tone, but the unexpected tragedy hit differently. With the show's comedic elements, the sadness hit even harder. While I did make it through the series, I find it hard to fully agree with the widespread acclaim. It's undoubtedly well-crafted and has its strong points, yet it doesn't quite reach the masterpiece status for me. It's not on my rewatch list, but l'm content with having given it a shot. In the grand scheme of HBO shows, Succession falls short of the top ranks for me. I do not understand how some people have it as a top HBO show, but maybe that is just me.
